It’s just part of who we are–courage, perseverance and dedication. Thanks to our founders, these virtues are essential elements of our heritage as Frassati Falcons. In 2007, when planning for Frassati Catholic High School began, a new Catholic school serving north Houston seemed like an impossible task. Through their selfless dedication, our pioneering founders made it, not to the finish line, but to the starting line, and Frassati Catholic opened in 2013. Now in our ninth year, Frassati Catholic students are finding success through their own acts of courage, dedication and perseverance. Our Falcons are soaring to new heights in all aspects of school life– in academics, fine arts, athletics, extracurricular activities, and spiritual formation–just like our patron, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Pure of heart and ardent in charity, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati learned to see reality—to see the human person and the world as they truly are. That is to say, to see the world as God sees it. Such sight, such We l come !

wisdom, is the ultimate purpose of Catholic education. It is attainable by prayer and study through the lens of the Beatitudes: both in the classroom through the intellectual pursuit of truth in all its dimensions as well as outside of the classroom through the service learning program, fine arts, athletics, and other extracurricular activities. The human person is naturally attracted to the true, the good, and the beautiful. It is essential to our mission that Frassati Catholic students have opportunities to participate in excellent extracurricular activities, particularly in the fine arts and athletics. In this magazine you will see tremendous examples of our students pursuing the true, the good, and the beautiful through their courage, perseverance, and dedication to building a culture that embodies the truth about the human person who is destined to share in God’s own Divine life. Verso l’alto, Sister John Paul, O.P.

Blessed Pier Giorgio is a great example of someone who used his physical gifts or other God-given talents to help lift up others around him. That is a trait that is evident throughout all of our extracurricular programs here at Frassati Catholic. We hope that you enjoy this closer look into what Frassati Catholic High School has to offer! opening in 2013, I have had the opportunity so see our student-athletes and coaches accomplish some amazing things. It is truly remarkable to see how far our programs have come, and to see our teams thriving and competing at a high level. What we really pride ourselves on as an athletics program is our commitment to strive for greatness in competition, while also lifting up the characteristics that our faith teaches us.
We are excited about our continued partnership with VYPE Media, which has a long history of highlighting local high school sports. We believe that this magazine will showcase some of the great opportunities that Frassati Catholic High School is able to offer in Athletics and Fine Arts. In the playoffs, Frassati defeated Cristo Rey Jesuit (4-2), St . Joseph Academy (2-1) and then St . Michael ’s Catholic Academy (3-1) to reach the title game. In the TAPPS Division II State Championship match, the Falcons fell shor t to Prince of Peace, 1-0, to finish as State Runner-Ups. “I think everybody now realizes we’re a big team and people are going to respect us,” Lopez said. “Now, we have to star t acting like a big team.” Lopez was an all-state, honorable-mention pick along with Antonio Moschella. On the all district squads, Moschella, Lopez , Boada and Tyler Twellman were first teamers. Second-team, all-district picks included Fede Celis and Gio Jabbour, while Michelangelo Moschella was an honorable-mention pick . Now, with the entire State of Texas put on notice about Frassati men’s soccer, Lopez said the offseason will be crucial for them to carry the momentum from 2022 over to the 2023 season. “I think it ’s impor tant to stay motivated to make sure everyone is working hard in the offseason,” he said. “So, when we get back into the season, we’re ready to take off from where we left off.” Looking towards the 2023 campaign for the Falcons, Lopez is set to return in the midfield, while Boada will be back in goal. Moschella is also slated to return in the midfield as well.
SOMETIMES IT JUST TAKES THAT ONE TEAM TO BREAK THE MOLD. TO SILENCE THE CRITICS AND TO PROVE THE DOUBTERS WRONG. For Frassati Catholic, the headline team of the 2021 2022 season resided on the pitch with men’s soccer. The Falcons were historic, reaching the TAPPS Division II State Championship match in March and finishing as the second-best squad in Texas. A landmark accomplishment for the program. “I think it marks a culture change,” Christopher Lopez said. “Before, we were known as a small school that had no chance. But now that we made it all the way to the State game, we know that we can go back again. We just want to star t a culture of winning here.” Lucas Boada added: “It was a thrill. I knew our team could make it . It was a dream come true.” It wasn’ t just monumental for the men’s soccer program but for the entire athletic depar tment . The Falcons’ men’s soccer team reaching the State Championship match marked the first team spor t in school history to do so. The Falcons finished the season with a 19-3-2 overall record and went an impeccable 13-1 in district play, outscoring foes 48-18 along the way. Frassati claimed the District Championship and then rolled in the playoffs to reach the State Championship bout .

SO MUCH HAPPENS INSIDE THE SCHOOL HALLWAYS OVER THE YEAR, THAT IMPORTANT NEWS AND NOTES GET OVERLOOKED. THAT ’S THE CASE AT FRASSATI CATHOLIC, WHICH HAD A HISTORICALLY SUCCESSFUL 202 1-22 SCHOOL YEAR, SO LET ’S CATCH EVERYONE UP. HERE’S “THE SCOOP” AT FRASSATI.
F A L C O N S G O I N D E P E N D E N T F O O T B A L L The Falcon football program is on the rise, but it is a strategic build out . Frassati will play an independent schedule the nex t two years. The Falcons played in TAPPS Division I District 4 last year, but will get a rebooted schedule through 2024. The slate this season includes the likes of Cristo Rey Jesuit , Legacy Prep, KIPP, Rosehill Christian and All Saints to name a few. The Falcons will be adding a JV team and more coaches to continue growing the football movement at Frassati. The ground breaking for their new stadium will take place in late 2022 . S T A T E B L I N G Frassati had a historic 2021-22 athletic year, winning State medals in golf, track and swim. Zamari Bruce earned State silver in the 300-meter hurdles and bronze in the 110-meter hurdles to wrap up a stellar career. The girls swim team flexed in 2022 . The girls 200-meter freestyle relay team of Kathryn Vieceli , Jimena de la Maza, Alison Voisin and Anna Lackner won gold at TAPPS State. Vieceli also won silver in the 100-meter freestyle and bronze in the 50-meter freestyle. On the golf course, Ellie Fincher won bronze at the TAPPS State Tournament .

\\ By J o s h u a Ko c h G I R L S G O L D E N FRASSATI CATHOLIC RELAY TEAM DROPS MAJOR TIME , WINS GOLD
DROPPING A SEASON-BEST TIME AT THE RIGHT TIME IS SOMETIMES WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STANDING JUST ON THE PODIUM AND RESIDING ON TOP OF IT. The Frassati Catholic women’s 200-meter free relay team did just that in February. The team that consisted of sophomore Kathryn Vieceli , freshmen Jimena de la Maza and Alison Voisin, and senior Anna Lackner made noise in the pool at the TAPPS State Swim Meet . The quar tet swam a mark of 1:51.88 to win the gold medal and beat out the nex t best team by 0.12 seconds. Lackner, who won gold in the 200 free relay as a sophomore in 2020 is the one who dove in the water first . After Lackner, it was the freshman dynamic duo of de la Maza and Voisin that provided “staying power ” in the second and third leg. Finally, Vieceli , who just last year brought home three State medals as a freshman, brought it home for the Falcons to touch the wall first and win gold. Three of the four members of the 200-meter free relay are set to return in the pool in 2023, so you can pencil in Frassati Catholic as a heavy favorite in this event again.

Outdoor spor ts are very impor tant where we live and having a stadium will be a game changer and motivate more people to come to Frassati Catholic. For Homecoming 2021, 400 students willingly drove to Rosehill for the game. Imagine how much easier it will be having access to games right nex t to us. Timothy Lienhard states, “I think it ’s going to make a huge difference in our enrollment because the type of people that are going to come to these games are not only people in our community but people in middle school and even parents with young kids who want to do something on Friday night .” The stadium will expand our community and bring our school together, so whether you are a student , athlete or teacher, get pumped and be ready to cheer on our Falcons on our very own home field.

MagDaleno also reached the All-Region Choir for Frassati Catholic as well. The choir was also excited about per forming the piece Psalm 150 this past year, which was sung completely in Latin. “I think it is absolutely stunning,” DeGraaf said of Psalm 150 . “It is one of the best pieces we’ve taken on here at Frassati.” On the theatre stage, Frassati students per formed the Sound of Music this past year and this fall will per form Little Women with the hopes of adding a play to the spring lineup in April. The ensemble also provides enter tainment throughout the year at different school events including pep rallies. “ That ’s the best par t of this whole thing,” Garrett Fruge, who plays bass, said. “Just getting together with everyone in the ensemble and seeing the school listen to us and enjoy it .”
THE FINE ARTS PROGRAM AT FRASSATI CATHOLIC IS EXCELLING NO MATTER WHAT AREA YOU LOOK INTO, WHETHER THAT BE CHOIR, THEATRE AND EVEN THE ENSEMBLE. This past year eight Falcons received superior ratings at TPSMEA State Solo and Ensemble: Lorelei Hoff ‘25, Bianca Marsan ‘23, Elizabeth Abib ‘23, Annie Far fan ‘23, Mason Sex ton ‘23, Tiffany Twellman ‘23, Ren MagDaleno ‘23 and Ashling DeGraaf ‘22 . DeGraaf was one of the Frassatic Catholic singers to make the All-State Choir along with Sarah Page. “It was a thrilling experience,” DeGraaf said. “I made All-State last year but we didn’ t have an oppor tunity to attend in person. So, this year was just incredible getting to meet a lot of students like myself who take singing seriously and want to pursue it even fur ther.” Page added, “Going to All State was my favorite memory.”
