Color Backgrounds A collection of artwork that can be used by Walsworth customers on their yearbook pages. This artwork is available in various shapes and sizes so they can be used as full-bleed backgrounds or accents. Columns Non-printing lines on a layout that divide the layout vertically. Usually used to keep text and other page elements in alignment. Command An instruction that causes the computer to perform an action. Command key The key with the Apple symbol on a Mac computer; used with one or more keys to launch a command. Compound path When items are layered on an InDesign page, creating a compound path punches out the area of the items that overlap. Constrained Line tool A tool in the InDesign Tool palette that allows the user to draw straight lines either horizontally, vertically or at 45-degree angles. Contact sheet A page containing thumbnails of image files, used for reference. Adobe Photoshop has a contact sheet feature that can be used to help organize digital images. Control Center A palette for InDesign that offers one click access to Walsworth Enhancements. Control key The key marked Ctrl on computers running the Windows operating system. This key is used with one or more keys to launch a command. Control palette A palette in the InDesign workspace that allows you to manipulate text or other page elements quickly and easily. Found by selecting Window > Show Control Palette. Convert Direction tool An InDesign tool that reverses the direction of a curve. Copy The words that appear in a book. Create outlines This InDesign menu command turns text into a graphic. Crop Removing or adjusting the outside edges of an image or graphic to improve framing or composition, draw a viewer’s eye to the image subject, or change the size or aspect ratio. Crop marks Also known as trim marks. These lines are
