J ennifer Rickman has worked alongside Dr. Allan Weston for over 10 years helping patients with gastrointestinal issues. In her role, Jennifer performs all in-house abdominal ultrasounds that are needed to asses a variety of issues in her patients, along with many other responsibilities at the Digestive Health Center of the Four States. Jennifer knew she wanted to go into some sort of healthcare when she was in high school. “I originally thought I would do something in sports medicine or podiatry,” she said. “Somehow, I ended up in the GI field and could not be happier. The liver is my favorite regenerating organ.” The most rewarding part of what Jennifer does is resolving people’s problems under the leadership of Dr. Weston. “Some patients have dealt with chronic symptoms that have affected their everyday life,” said Jennifer. “It is beyond amazing getting the chance to help people get to a point that they can live a normal life.” Jennifer has been recognized for her achievements in the GI field, as well. She has been designated as a Blue-C study Coordinator in the Blue-C study, a new method for improved detection of colorectal cancer. Jennifer and Dr. Weston were also chosen to design two different posters about their Shearwave Elastography Ultrasound and Transit FibroScan. And, Jennifer has also been successful at curing Hepatitis C in patients since 2013. When Jennifer isn’t working, she enjoys running, working out and being with her family.
