W ith a very successful Marian Days in August, we are excited to welcome the sights and sounds of fall here in Carthage Missouri. The cooler temperatures and shorter days quickly approaching also means the 56 th Annual Maple Leaf Festival will be just a few weeks away! Applications for the grand marshal, vendors, dog show, lip sync contest and to be a part of the Maple Leaf Parade are all available at www. carthagechamber.com. Our annual Carthage, Missouri Show Me The Ozarks Magazine edition will highlight even more of the festivities. Other activities in September you will not want to miss in Carthage is the September Food Truck Friday September 9 in Carthage Central Park. Over 20 vendors line the streets and inside Central Park to showcase their business. Featuring live entertainment, games and prizes all day long. Food trucks open 11 am-9 pm. Bring your lawn chair and gather at Griggs Park in Carthage Wednesday September 21, for the monthly, “An Evening in the Garden at Griggs Park,” located at 316 W. Centennial. Join Carthage Community Gardens and MU-Extension for once a month, seasonally relevant garden talks. Local experts will be on hand to answer your gardening questions. All area gardeners and those interested in getting started in gardening are encouraged to join. We will meet at the Community Gardens located at the southeast corner of Griggs Park. Topics will range from soil prep, pest and disease control, stagger planting, watering, pollination to garden shut down in the late fall. The talks will be informal with lots of time for questions and exploring the gardens. Make plans now to attend and be sure to share with all your gardener and potential gardener friends! Everyone is welcome!
