SOMA Living November 2025

As the holiday season approaches, everyone starts searching for décor to match each upcoming celebration. Professional organizers often face extremely neglected storage spaces: garages overflowing with random items, storage units stacked with collapsed boxes and mismatched furniture, and attics that challenge even the bravest among us. To keep storage spaces from turning into “black holes where things go to die,” use these tips to simplify your life: • Utilize vertical space. Avoid piling items on the floor or stacking things on top of each other. Shelves offer the best solution. For items that don’t fit on shelves, hang them— rakes, bikes, folding chairs, and more. More open floor space means easier movement and better visibility, making retrieval simple. • Choose container sizes wisely. Many people reach for large plastic containers, but lifting heavy totes risks injury. Select containers based on their contents. Proper sizing protects your body and makes organization easier. • Label everything. Clear containers help you see what’s inside, but labeling every box streamlines storage and accessibility.
