“Wow, that’s a big bathtub,” my wife exclaimed. “Yeah, my client wanted a large soaking tub in her primary bathroom (see picture in the ad below), and this one is perfect for having a ‘Calgon moment,’” I said. “A what?” she responded. “You remember the old TV commercial. A stressed-out woman would cry, ‘Take me away, Calgon,’ and she would be transported to a luxurious bubble bath. I think Calgon provided the bubbles.” “Okay, Boomer, nothing like dating yourself,” she replied snidely. “Yes, I know I’m dating myself, but now, more than even back then, we all need a ‘Calgon moment.’” “And I get it, not all of us have the space for a giant soaking tub, but that’s just one way to get what is essentially a time-out from the world—an escape from the hectic, stressed-out, sensory-overloaded lifestyle we all live. And a ‘Calgon moment’ provides: one, stress relief, allowing you to unwind and lower your cortisol levels; two, mental clarity; stepping away from chaos helps you think more clearly and make better decisions; and three, though there are many more, emotional balance. Taking time to relax helps prevent burnout and emotional fatigue.” “I can’t even remember the last time I took a bath,” my wife sighed. “There are lots of ways to take time for yourself. People have meditation rooms, book nooks, or even a nice kitchen,” I added, smiling. “So, what are you cooking for dinner?” she asked slyly, knowing that cooking is a way for me to take my ‘Calgon moment.’
