ARTIST STUDIO TOUR The townships of South Orange and Maplewood are home to a vibrant community of artists who live, work, and play all within a short distance of New York City, the art capital of the world. The 20th annual SOMA Artist Studio Tour offers art enthusiasts, art collectors, and gallery lovers the opportunity to visit the studios of 70+ local professional and emerging visual artists located right in our two towns. This celebrated event attracts over 1,000 visitors to our vibrant and diverse community. Artists open their work spaces to the public as an opportunity to share their studios, their artistic processes, as well as a variety of finished work for sale. Work includes painting, sculpture, print makings, mixed media, jewelry, pottery, photography, fiber art and more. This FREE, two day event takes place on the first weekend in November (Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5 from 11am to 5pm). This year there are several venues with multiple artists: the Parlor at the Woodland, the Dehart Community Center and the Senior Center in Maplewood. In South Orange, artists will show at the Skate House, Floods Hill.
