This month’s feature is Patricia Canning. Patricia Canning is a businesswoman, community activist, and tri-athlete. She recently launched The PMC Solutions Group which provides project management and environmental sustainability services to organizations and communities seeking to engage in the clean energy transition.

Julie Perlow, Retail Therapy - The styling experience with Patricia was truly fun and unique. Patricia was willing to go shopping at one of my favorite “discounted designer” boutiques in the area. This store has a huge selection and allowed us to find pieces that popped with color, texture and sheen.

Patricia and her family have resided in SOMA for nearly 20 years. She expresses, “In SOMA, we found a community where I can make a difference.” This drove her involvement with the Community Coalition on Race, the Achieve Foundation, and the South Orange Environmental Commission. Patricia spearheaded initiatives like the SoNotPlastic campaign and the MLK Luminary Project. In her downtime, Patricia competes in half-ironman triathlons. This commitment led her to form TeamTRIiumph Inc, a women’s empowerment group that guided over 100 women to complete their first triathlon. Her two daughters and husband also actively participate in health and fitness activities.

Norah Salzar, Makeup artist - I loved working with Patricia! For her glam, I chose some metallic and black in her eyes, kohl black eyeliner to make her eyes pop and radiant skin with a nice berry lip color. On set, I added some clip in extensions to give her salon blowout the additional body she wanted. Patricia was a joy to work with and this shoot was super fun for all of us.
