5 Point Physical Therapy is excited to welcome Dr. Karen Vozzella, PT, DPT, CLT, to its team, a specialist in oncology, breast oncology, and lymphedema therapy. In 2023, an estimated 297,790 women and 2,800 men in the U.S. will face breast cancer, the most common cancer among American women. The side effects of cancer treatments, such as fatigue, decreased strength, and mobility issues, can drastically affect a patient’s quality of life. Bringing over a decade of outpatient physical therapy experience, including eight years in oncology from her tenure at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dr. Vozzella is well equipped to tackle the complex side effects cancer patients endure. These range from pain and swelling to reduced mobility due to scar tissue and myofascial restrictions. As a certified lymphedema therapist, she also addresses swelling caused by lymph node removal or radiation therapy. Dr. Vozzella’s addition underscores 5 Point PT’s commitment to providing comprehensive care in a healing environment.
