OYSTERFEST SOMA’s 8th Annual Robert J. Miller Oysterfest and Melanoma Awareness Showcases International Flavors SOMA is gearing up for a culinary and musical extravaganza at the 8th annual Robert J. Miller Oysterfest, a vibrant community health event promoting Melanoma awareness and fundraising for a good cause. This year’s event promises to be even more exciting with the addition of an international food celebration featuring the diverse flavors of local SOMA restaurants. Taking place on September 7, 2024, at The Woodland on 60 Woodland Road in the heart of Maplewood Village, this event has become a staple in the community since its inception in 2015. The festivities will run from 5-10 pm and include live music by bands Hoi Polloi and Black Tie Groove, an open bar, bagpipers, dining with local eateries, and of course, the popular oysters and raw bar.
at St. James’s Gate in Maplewood. The event aims to raise awareness of Melanoma and support local families in need, as well as fund essential research grants for Melanoma studies. Grace Miller, co-founder of Robert J. Miller Foundation, expressed her pride in supporting local families and the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF). The event will also honor Jayesh Menon, a medical student at the University of Rochester, with a grant in memory of Bob Miller for his research on Metastatic Melanoma.
