Pottsboro Area Chamber of Commerce 2022-2023
T he City of Pottsboro Volunteer Fire Department is responsible for emergency services covering a 43-square mile area which include the city limits of Pottsboro. The department responds to roughly 300 calls each year. The fire department handles fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, mutual aid calls to neighboring districts and any other situations where the fire department might be needed. The Department was founded in 1946 as a ‘Bucket Brigade’ Fire Department. The first piece of motorized apparatus was obtained in the early 50’s. The Fire Department consists of 10 volunteer firefighters, administered by its paid Fire Chief Brenden McCloud. Several of our volunteers are certified firefighters with the Texas Commission of Fire Protection and Texas State Firemen and Fire Marshal Association. Our department is a registered first responder and several of our volunteers are also certified with the Texas Department of State Health. Maintaining certifications and ensuring our department is trained and ready to go requires monthly training sessions. The volunteers take pride knowing they get to serve the City of Pottsboro. They all have other jobs and careers but when the pager goes off, they drop what they are doing to respond to the emergency at hand. The City of Pottsboro is very thankful that there are volunteers that are willing to help their neighbor in need and volunteer their time at the fire department. The fire department regularly works with and trains with other area fire departments to include North Texas Regional Airport FD, Preston FD/EMS, Locust FD and Denison FD. POTTSBORO FIRE & RESCUE
