To meet employer and community needs of the growing Hispanic populations within the Milwaukee area, MATC offers English Language Learner supported courses taught in English with Spanish support. • Occupational English language courses help students attain the English language skills needed to transition into the workforce and MATC’s degree, diploma and certi fi cate programs • Classes assist students who are obtaining their GED/HSED in English or Spanish • Bilingual (English/Spanish) courses are offered in business, culinary, health, early childhood education, welding, General Education Associate of Arts and Sciences degrees with pre majors such as Community Engagement, Chemical Technology, Economics, Global Studies, Psychology and Teacher Education For a listing of bilingual (English/Spanish) classes offered, visit Self Service (tinyurl.com/coursesMATC); the Course Type pull-down menu includes bilingual (English/Spanish) as a search option. If your fi rst language is not English or if you are fl uent in two or more languages, MATC offers bilingual programs and services to help you reach your academic and personal goals. MATC can help you improve your English skills, obtain your GED/HSED in English or Spanish, enroll in one of our Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs, a degree or technical diploma program, and more. Bilingual Communication (English/Spanish) Assistance Assistance for students who need help with bilingual (English/ Spanish) communication is provided by the Multicultural Student Services and Bilingual Services of fi ces at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus, Main Building, Room M238, and T Building, Room T248. The MATC Education Center at Walker’s Square and community based organizations (CBOs) also provide bilingual (English/Spanish) services. • Counseling referrals • Program information • Registration assistance • Student advocacy • Test proctoring • Academic tracking and tutoring support within the Bilingual of fi ce, virtually and in classrooms • Referral to other services within and outside of MATC • Liaison between student/faculty and academic Pathways • Information about evaluation of school transcripts from foreign countries Services include: • Career exploration and coaching • Progress monitoring/case management
