Classes are two hours each on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with an additional four hours of weekly online instruction. Online classes are fl exible, with fi ve to 10 hours of assignments per week. Online classes require working on a home computer or in one of MATC’s Academic Success Centers. Grades and Program Plan • Grade reports are posted on Self-Service, the college’s online portal. Letter grades are A, B, C, D and U. • Students can fi nd their individual Program Plan on Self-Service. The Program Plan includes grade information and progress toward graduation. Additional MATC Adult High School opportunities for teens and adults: Credit recovery – High school students ages 16 and older may register for AHS classes to make up high school credits. A Request for Enrollment form must be submitted when registering. College prerequisites – High school graduates who need high school credits in biology, algebra, geometry or chemistry as prerequisites for college programs can take these courses through AHS. Emerging Scholars program – High school students age 16 and older who meet the statutory de fi nition of being an at-risk child may take classes leading to a high school diploma at MATC. 46
Earn a High School Diploma at MATC MATC’s Adult High School (AHS) offers the opportunity for individuals ages 16 and older to earn a high school diploma. Our comprehensive high school is accredited by Cognia and offers a full range of academic and student support services. Classes meet on the Downtown Milwaukee Campus and courses are offered online. Students with no previous high school experience complete 46 credits* of coursework. Students who have earned credits at other schools get advanced standing and complete the remaining credits needed for graduation. At least six credits must be taken at MATC. *Each Adult High School credit is equal to one-half of a Carnegie Unit, which is the credit system most commonly used by U.S. high schools. Classes are 76-80 hours per quarter or semester. How To Get Started Step1: Go to matc.edu and complete the Adult High School application. Step2: Sendanof fi cial copy of your high school transcript to communityed@matc.edu. Step3: An Adult High School advisor will contact you to register for your classes. Step4: Pay for classes online or at any cashier’s of fi ce. Class Cost (subject to change) • Current per credit class fees range from $6.50 to $12.50. • ID fee per semester is $8.75. All students need an MATC ID. • Book costs vary by course and are not included in class fees.
