29. Alex Oliveira Owner Arpa Flooring Design LLC OAKHURST, NJ When he was 16, Alex Oliveira began carrying tools, cleaning jobsites, and observing as seasoned craftsmen laid each board. From those early days, he developed a deep respect for wood flooring and the artistry it demands. He worked his way up – installer, lead, foreman – and eventually, took the leap into ownership. Today, Oliveira runs a company with 15 employees, serving New York City’s most discerning clients with high-end flooring installations. As an NWFA Certified Sales Advisor, Oliveira sees his role as both craftsman and educator. He believes clients deserve not just beautiful floors, but also the knowledge to make the right choice for their homes. This year, he will open his first showroom, offering clients a place to explore possibilities and find the perfect fit for their vision. Oliveira takes pride in teaching team members who are new to the trade, helping them become skilled professionals, and opening new opportunities for their future, including pursuing their own business.
30. Alex Parrott Head of Sport Flooring Sales for North America Berger-Seidle DULUTH, GA With a father who was a residential and gym floor contractor, Alex Parrott was introduced to the industry at the age of five. As is often the case, Parrott started on an edger and scraper and worked his way up to using the big machine, rider, and buffer. He continued working as a contractor until he graduated from college, then joined the finish side of the industry after earning a Master of Business Administration. Currently, Parrott is the national rep for all of Berger Seidle’s sport products across the United States and Canada. His focus at Berger-Seidle is on customer relationship management, technical training, customer service, and development of the Berger-Seidle sports flooring category in North America. Parrott played football at his alma mater, Carson-Newman University, and the game remains a big part of his life. He coaches the offensive line at a local high school. He says the game of football teaches young men valuable lessons about hard work, teamwork, and overcoming challenging obstacles in life.
31. Michelle Pizzo Chief of Staff Apex Wood Floors LOMBARD, IL
Michelle Pizzo has been with Apex Wood Floors for almost seven years, starting as an executive assistant. While in that role, she embraced the executive coaching she received and flourished into the chief of staff for the company. Pizzo is the onsite trainer, developing clear processes and leading feedback meetings with team members. She is described as a game-changing leader with a “whatever it takes” attitude. Pizzo is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago, where she majored in journalism. In her spare time, she created a group for people to share their hobbies. For example, if someone is a pottery artist, knows sign language, or can make lotion, Pizzo coordinates a free class for those interested in learning the new hobby or skill. Additionally, she started a clothes swap while in college that she continues to do with others.
