Sanibel Captiva Community Bank Presents Adaptive Tricycles to Local Children with Special Needs

S anibel Captiva Community Bank partnered with local organizations Robbie’s Riders and Grampy’s Charities to give15 custom-made adaptive tricycles to Southwest Florida children with special needs. The tricycles, worth between $3,000 and $5,000, were presented to the children and their families at the bank’s Bridge branch. All recipients were referred from Golisano Children’s Hospital, GiGi’s Playhouse and NCH Outpatient Rehab and were between the ages of 4 and 13 years old. By riding these tricycles, the children benefit from general strengthening, new proprioceptive sensory input, and improved reciprocal coordination of the legs. They can now participate in activities with their families and peers and enjoy the childhood experience of riding a bike. Robbie’s Riders provides special adaptive bicycles and tricycles to children with disabilities according to their individual capacities and needs. The charity works to donate special needs cycles as quickly as they can raise funds to purchase them. S cott T. Antritt, vice president and trust officer with Caldwell Trust Company, marked his 10th anniversary with the business in January, having joined as a trust officer in Caldwell’s Sarasota office. Following a career of steady advancement, he now supervises activities in the company’s corporate headquarters in Venice. In addition, Antritt oversees Change Management, one of four business segments at Caldwell Trust Company. In that capacity he centralizes and manages the development and enhancements of the company’s processes, policies and services, which he coordinates with the company’s other business units. He is also a member of Caldwell’s corporate leadership team, its investment committee, and its retirement planning team, which provides advisory services to businesses with emwployee retirement plans. He continues to help successful business owners achieve that same success personally as they do professionally through organizing business succession planning, retirement planning and estate planning.

“These custom-made, adaptive bicycles give remarkable children a level of independence and freedom,” said Jack Johannemann, director of Robbie’s Riders. “The joy of seeing these children ride a bike is immeasurable.” Grampy’s Charities raises funds and support for children’s organizations by partnering with comfort and research-based charities to make a difference in the lives of kids who need it most.
