The first miniature golf course was created by Garnet Carter in 1928 on Lookout Mountain. Carter named his golf course ‘Tom Thumb Golf’. Garnet Carter and his wife Frieda went on to found beautiful Rock City Gardens on their personal estate in the Fairyland Community. 10 09 04 03
Chattanooga became known internationally in 1941 when Glenn Miller and his orchestra popularized the song, “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” which sold more than one million copies.The Chattanooga Choo Choo Terminal Station was built in 1908. While it no longer operates as a train station, The Chattanooga Choo Choo is an iconic symbol of the city’s rich history. Tourists today enjoy shops and eateries on the grounds. 04 06 07 08 03
