BIKE THE SOUTH 2022
C hattanooga-based Bike the South (www.bike-the-south.com) has announced its 2022 season. Most tours are in East Tennessee, Northwest Georgia, and North Carolina and follow the company’s philosophy of “Slow Travel. Southern Charm. Carefree Cycling.” Tours feature carefully cu rated routes, charming lodging, ample opportunities to take in local history and culture, and a choice of guided, supported, and self-guided tours.
BlueRidgeParkwaybyE-Bike The Blue Ridge Parkway will take us through Southern Appala chia’s mountainous terrain on a challenging yet rewarding tour–made less challenging by our fleet of e-bikes. Riders will have the chance to experience Appalachia’s unique mountain culture along the way. Atlantaand theHeart ofGeorgia Meander through quaint historic towns on the way across rolling countryside towards Atlanta. Along the way, we’ll learn about the region’s path to the Civil War and Civil Rights as well as more current issues. Wine andBike in theTennesseeOverhill The Tennessee Overhill is a treasure trove of rivers, waterfalls, forestedmountains, quiet backroads, and sprawling farmland. It’s a region where tradition and family still mean everything, and the family-owned farms and vineyards–and the local wines–are a featured focus of the tour. Home base will be a private mansion just outside the historic town of Athens. Bike-the-South was founded in 2021 by Jim Johnson, founder of BikeTours.com, which offers a portfolio of European tour packages.
Tours range fromone to eight days and are aimed primarily at recreational cyclists. Some tours have scheduled dates, while most are offered daily on request for parties of four or more–perfect for a small group of friends. Most on-request tours can be customized at no extra cost.
