Vamizi Island MOZAMBIQUE 10
Mozambique is another destination on the up after years of conflict. Vamizi opened at the heart of a conservation project 10 years ago and has been continuously updating since then, most recently with a newWellness Center and opportunity to rent the island as a whole, available from this year. Reached via a mesmerizing 45-minute flight from Pemba over the northern Quirimbas Archipelago, the sand is snow-white; the diving psychedelic. Days can be spent kayaking, sailing, deep-sea fishing, and whale watching, too. Standout service Bonfire sundowners and full-moon barbecues; aqua yoga and couples’ massages; the opportunity to adopt and track your own shark. During the Brazil World Cup, the resort installed a satellite dish and TV in the villa of a guest who wanted to watch the matches. Special amenities Six new sustainably designed Private Villas with five to six bedrooms apiece: each comes with its own chef and hospitality manager; all but one have pools. Number of rooms As well as the six private villas, there are also 10 beautiful timber Kitalas (Lodge Villas), set along the beach. Room to book Kitala 1 (1,830 sq ft) is the honeymoon suite. Tartaruga is the newest Private Villa and has 7,535 sq ft of indoor space, 59,202 sq ft of decking, and a tower for stargazing. Who has slept there Daniel Craig; Lady Helen Taylor. Contact Kate Coleridge (enquiries@vamizi.com); vamizi.com; +44 1285 762218. Price From $1,085 per person per night at the lodge or $39,795 for seven nights in a Private Villa, sleeping eight adults and four kids.
