Junior Leslie Dominguez said, ''I feel like sports drinks make you more tired and make your throat dry, that's why I prefer water over sport drinks.'' Drinking water isn't the only way to stay hydrated during the hot summer days. Going to the beach or lake can also help you stay refreshed and hydrated "I enjoy going to the beach during summer when the temperature rises up to 105 degrees" said senior Alex Rodriguez. Many of the students also joined the Surf Club because they traveled to the beaches where the temperatures was not as hot. "I loved being a Surf Club member because I got to get away from the heat in this desert and enjoy cooler weather at the beach."

As summer approached the temperature rose and getting enough water was important whether you were playing sports, waiting for the bus, or just sitting in the sun. Keeping the body hydrated helps the heart pump blood through the blood vessels and into the muscles. Freshman Hernan Nieblas said, "During football practice I become weak and I get blurry vision and thats how I get dehydrated." Sport drinks can also be helpful if you're planning on excessing at higher than normal levels for more than an hour. They contain carbohydrates and electrolytes that can increase your energy and helps your body absorb water. However not all agree.
