BRIDGE CITY HIGH SCHOOL IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE TWO INSTRUCTORS FOR THEIR HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM. Sara Tahany, RN is the instructor for our Introduction to Health Science classes as well as the Medical Terminology classes. These typically fall during freshman and sophomore year consecutively. Robin Peveto, RN is the instructor for the junior class, Health Science Theory, as well as the senior class, Practicum in Health Science (CNA class/dual credit). The CNA class is a dual credit class, the students learn all the skills of a certified nurse’s aide during the first part of the program, then the students have a clinical rotation at the nursing home where they put their skills to use, caring for the elderly. We also have a clinical rotation at a local hospital and the students become familiar with the day to day life of a nurse. These CNA students take a State Test at the end of the school year, which can allow them to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide. BCHS has produced 230 CNA’s over the past 18 years, these students frequently go on to nursing school. This program not only benefits our students, but our community.
