Bridge City ISD Spring 2023
ROBOT I C S
feature
BRIDGE CITY HIGH SCHOOL HAS INTRODUCED A ROBOTICS PROGRAM INTO THEIR CURRICULUM THAT IS INSTRUCTED BY MR. TOM NICHOLS. In his Principles of Engineering course students learn about basic functions of sensors for the robots and how to make them function properly using their own design for attachments. Students who take his Manufacturing of Engineering course will be able to step up to bigger, more complicated robots to do tasks. These robots are in-line with Lamar University’s Robotic program. With the introduction of this new program at Bridge City High is a UIL Robotics competition team that is put on by FIRST and sponsored by fortune 500 companies. Students who join this team could have the possibility to go all the way up to a World competition to show off their ingenuity. This Team is student run and lets them really show off their skills from: being able to work with a team to build, code, journal, community involvement and so much more. All of those things help prepare our problem solvers of tomorrow. Robotics; Solving Tomorrow’s Problems THE FUTURE IS NOW \\ By L indy Welborn
