The park, a World Heri tage Site, hosts “Komodo dragons,” the world’s largest lizards—a unique species that exists nowhere else and is of great interest to scientists studying evolution. Currently, illegal fishing is putting an economic strain on the country, which is the world’s second largest fish pro ducer. Visitors can join research dives hosted by marine conservation specialists to learn more about the work they are doing to help solve this problem.
