Autumn Years Fall 2023
Greenland Greenland, the world’s largest island, lies between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is known for its Greenlandic Inuit traditions, its breath-taking glaciers, its amazing local wildlife and probably most notably its Viking historic sites. That includes Kujataa, a World Heritage Site where Vikings established farms in the 10th-14th centuries. Today you can visit the farms that have been preserved and are now fully-functioning settlements. Greenland’s tourism was showing signs of steady growth until the COVID crisis took its toll. Its goal now is to continue to build an approach to tourism for the future, one that yields sustainable results by prioritizing local jobs and protecting its diverse and somewhat unique ecosystems.
