SPOTLIGHT on the ARTS

ALIEF ISD IS A VIBRANT HUB OF LEARNING, AND AT THE HEART OF THAT VIBRANCY LIES A THRIVING FINE ARTS COMMUNITY. From the striking presentations of our visual arts to the soaring melodies of our orchestras, our students are exploring their creativity and developing skills that will last a lifetime. We are committed to providing our students with enriching and challenging experiences in the fine arts. We believe that participation in these programs not only enhances their artistic abilities but also develops crucial life skills that will prepare them for success in the future. We invite you to join us on this journey of creativity and discovery as we celebrate the talents of our Alief ISD students.

DANCE: Movement and Mastery

Our dance programs are more than just steps and routines; they are a journey of discipline, expression, and teamwork. This year, our talented dance leaders had the opportunity to showcase their hard work at the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) Convention as part of the All State Dance Team. These All-State Dance Team members, represented Alief ISD with pride and artistry. Their dedication and passion are truly inspiring. This prestigious event brings together dance educators and students from across the state, providing a platform for learning, collaboration, and performance.

MUSIC: A Symphony of Success

The sounds of music resonate throughout our campuses, thanks to the dedication of our band, choir, and orchestra programs. Our student musicians are not only honing their musical skills but also developing crucial life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership. The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention is a highlight of the year for these programs. We are incredibly proud of the Alief ISD students who have earned the honor of performing with the All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra. Their selection is a testament to their exceptional talent and commitment. We encourage you to attend their performances and witness the magic they create.

THEATRE: Shining Stars

Middle and high school theatre boast engaging programs available for students. These programs offer students the opportunity to develop their acting skills, learn about technical theatre, and participate in a variety of productions. Alief ISD’s theatre programs aim to foster creativity, collaboration, and self expression in students while providing them with a platform to showcase their talents. Students participate in UIL-One Act Play productions, Regional, State and National competitions.

JROTC: Leadership and Service Through Discipline

Our Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs at Elsik (Air Force), Hastings (Marines), and Taylor (Navy) high schools instill values of leadership, citizenship, and service in our students. While not strictly fine arts, the JROTC drill teams often incorporate elements of performance and precision, demonstrating the discipline and teamwork cultivated within these programs. These cadets are not only preparing for potential military careers but also developing into responsible and engaged members of their community.
