NEW! If you're looking to add some vertical interest to your landscape then this switchgrass is for you! It has a nice upright form and our landscape designers recommend planting either alone or mass planting in your garden. It has a showy, winter interest, tolerates most soil conditions and added bonus is the attractive yellow color that arrives in fall. It's slightly taller than the other switchgrasses and may be used for an informal screening. Hardiness to zone 4 with mature growth around 4' tall and wide. Flower panicles are around 6' tall. A warm season grass. An excellent, native species that is very heat tolerant and great for xeriscaping! A clump forming grass that gets 2-3' high and wide. The green leaves are fine textured and the overall form is arching. In August, the flowers rise above the foliage and have a sweet fragrance. As the seeds ripen, they arch over. 'Autumn Frost' starts the spring with blue leaves with bright yellow margins before a summer transformation into green leaves and creamy yellow-white margins. A warm season grass. An outstanding selection of Red Switchgrass. Green foliage has purplish tips throughout the summer. The loose and open panicles (pyramidal shaped seed heads) appear in August or September, and remain attractive all winter. The fall foliage is red to orange. Mature height of 3-4' is common if grown in a sunny, well drained site. Trim down in early April each year. 3-4' Zones 4-9 AUG-SEP TUFTED HAIRGRASS DESCHAMPSIA D. cespitosa 'Goldtau' GOLD DEW TUFTED HAIRGRASS Gold Dew Tufted Hairgrass is a wonderful, low maintenance grass. This cool season grass starts growing early in the year and starts putting on a show by mid-summer with airy flowers that begin in June and last through August. These are followed by attractive yellow seed heads throughout the winter. This fine compact plant grows only 18" tall and wide and is not bothered by deer.
