Warm season, upright clump forming, silvery blue foliage turning orange to bronze in fall. Purple "turkey foot" seed heads emerge in August and adds interest as foliage sways in the breeze. Offers erosion control, nesting habitat and cover for many mammals and birds. Tolerant of almost all soil types, from dry and sandy to heavy, wet clay. This is a great naturalizing grass! 4-7' Zones 4-9 AUG-SEP
A cool season, clump forming grass. An upright, narrow, and extremely uniform grass 3-4' or even 5' when flowering. One of the first grasses to break out of dormancy and one of earliest to bloom. Bloom usually starts in June or early July. The seed heads resemble wheat and are straw colored soon after emerging. Plant in full sun in a rich, well-drained soil. Use in mass, or as a specimen. Cut back late in March if possible before new growth begins. A very dependable "soldier" in the border. 3-5' Zones 4-9 JUN
A warm season, clump forming grass that grows to about 4' tall. An upright grower. Will form a large clump over time. The dark green, ¾" wide leaves change to a bright red-orange in fall, eventually fading to a silken white in winter. The feathery white seed heads appear in August, are showy and persist throughout the winter months – a fun addition to the winter landscape. Do not cut back Flame Grass until early April. Full sun and well-drained soils. 4" Zones 4-9 AUG LITTLE BLUESTEM SCHIZACHYRIUM S. scoparium LITTLE BLUESTEM

FESCUE FESTUCA F. glauca 'Cool as Ice' BLUE FESCUE
A cool season, clump forming grass. Hardy, low-tufted grass with powdery, silver-blue coloration. Thin blades are gracefully arched, but only attain a height of 6-8" and only 6-10" when blooming. Plant in full sun to partial shade on well drained soils. An excellent edging plant – most effective when used in mass plantings. Trim back foliage late in March or early April each year. 8" Zones 4-8 JUN
A warm season, clump forming grass. The blue-green foliage provides a great backdrop for prairie flowers in summer, turning a striking crimson in fall. Fluffy silver seedheads add some real dazzle to the autumn landscape. A patch of Little Bluestem waving in the wind is truly a wondrous sight, resembling waves of the ocean on a bright and breezy fall day! It combines nicely with prairie flowers, grows two or three feet tall on well-drained sand and loam and excels in dry sandy and rocky soils. Not recommended for heavy clay or damp soils. Plant in full sun for best results. Native. 2-3' Zones 4-10 AUG
Finely textured blue foliage grows in an 18" mound. A cool season grass that provides interest all year. Great in mass plantings. Hardy to -25 degrees F. Needs a very dry site. 18" Zones 4-8 JUN
