continued to perform well they decided to take advantage of the high cattle prices and market their founda tion herd cows in their production sale this past March. This money allowed the students to invest into some foun dational pieces for their own opera tion. Their goal with their genetics is to produce well-rounded cattle that can succeed in any operation. With Wildorado being in the heart of the cattle feeding country, cattle that can inject feed efficiency and exceptional carcass qualities into its fed bound progeny was at the top of mind of the Wildorado students. But they were also quick to real ize that good cows make the world go round. Because of this, they want bulls that throw fertile, moder ate-framed daughters with easy flesh ing abilities. “We want our customers to be able to throw a rock in the pen and hit any number of bulls that will meet their need,” Russell said. The decisions made on the genet ics WCC will select for are also made by students. Their research and

The innovation opportunities brought by the cattle company are molding students who will be years ahead of their peers in terms of professional ism and industry knowledge.
