advocating and defending ranching families in Utah and beyond. Angie serves our church and community in so many ways. She’s the brains of the outfit and I am simply unskilled labor. I’ve been writing and performing cowboy poetry as well, which lets us have a lot of fun little trips to some cool places. It gives me another platform to advocate for ranchers and agriculture. We run Simm/Angus cattle on private leased ground. We live in a town of 300 people and have to go to the big towns for groceries and doctors and stuff. Our son, Dalton, is away at college at Utah State University Blanding in South Eastern Utah. He is in their Ranch Horse program and excelling. Our daughter Hailey and her husband Hyrum Richins, moved home from being in Idaho and are renting a place here in town. We love having them close and they are both involved in the ranch. We gave both kids heifers and they will keep building their own cowherd. Blessed and grateful to live this life! FRIDAY, JANUARY 3RD Morning - Trip to the dentist in the morning. Home to check water for the cows. Check lambs we had last night. Hang a new yard light in the lambing pen. Evening - I checked water for the cows and fed

some hay as well. Did chores at the house in the wind. Storm coming tomorrow. Starting checks on the ewes every two hours in anticipation of lambing. SATURDAY, JANUARY 4TH Morning - 3 a.m. ewe check, still windy and no lambing. Snow this morning when the front arrived. Updating cattle records indoors today. Fed livestock and did our daily chores. Evening - Fed cows and checked on water. Came home and pulled a lamb. Got him and the ewe in a jug and under a heat Morning - 3 a.m. ewe checks, they were all laying around chewing their cud. I did our morning chores and then we all went to church. Evening - Checked sheep. Helped Dalton get stuff ready and packed for his return to college. Sent him 6 hours back to col lege in SE Utah today. Hard to see him go. Chores done, cows fed and checked water. Stopped by a neighbor’s house to check on them after they lost their son. lamp.
