FUN WITH CLIKART Note: To do all exercises, the Walsworth Enhancements from Support Download must be installed on each workstation, and the Using InDesign Activities folder must be copied to your desktop from Support Download. Using clip art can add interest and fun to your yearbook pages. Walsworth’s ClikArt collection provides clip art in color, grayscale (black and white with shades of gray) and line art (black and white with no shades of gray). Practice placing ClikArt. 1. Open a new spread from the Control Center. 2. Set the page numbers to 76-77 in the Modify Page Range dialog. 3. Select Four Color for each page and click Apply Color Information . 4. When prompted to save, click Cancel. 5. To place a piece of ClikArt, go to File > Place . 6. Browse to the color ClikArt located in the Using InDesign > ClikArt > Color folder on your desktop. Select any of the art files and click Open . 7. Position the loaded cursor in the location you want the image placed and left click your mouse. 8. Do not place color ClikArt on a page set up as Black and White. Practice resizing and altering grayscale and line art. 9. Place a piece of grayscale ClikArt using the method above from the Using InDesign > ClikArt > Grayscale folder. 10. Use the scaling fields in the InDesign Control Panel to enlarge the ClikArt to 150%. Be sure the Link button is selected to keep the proportions equal. 11. Use the rotation field in the InDesign Control Panel to rotate the art 35 degrees. 12. Place a piece of line art from the InDesign > ClikArt > Line Art folder. 13. With the line art selected, hold down the Ctrl+Shift (Win) or Cmd+Shift (Mac) keys and click on one of the handles and drag to enlarge or reduce the piece of line art. Practice working with ColorTex Textures. 14. Using the Selection tool, click on the Rectangle Frame tool. Click on the upper left corner of the spread and drag to the bottom right corner. 15. Click on File > Place , then navigate to the Using InDesign > ClikArt > ColorTex Textures folder on your desktop. Select the ft0600.jpg and click Open . The image will fill the spread. 16. Go to Object > Arrange > Send to Back so any artwork you previously placed will be on top of the texture. 17. Click File > Save As > ClikArt.indd and save it to the Using InDesign > Lesson 3 folder on your desktop.
