#CREC CARES In 2018, CREC formalized the community outreach efforts of its employees by launching the #CRECcares initiative. The program serves as an umbrella for the individual volunteer community service projects that take place throughout the cooperative’s service area. “We’re proud of Operation Round Up efforts, but we also want to be about more than just writing checks,” says Doug Tracy. “We like to get physically involved—whether it’s helping to build a home for Habitat for Humanity or doing yard work for someone who’s disabled. This sweat equity can help enrich our community.” #CRECcares has opened the door for opportunities in which employees can get together both inside and outside of the office and support community improvement efforts and causes that are important to them, according to Tracy. “The program is a way to cultivate each employee’s interest in serving the communities where they live and work,” he adds.
