Introducing the co-op’s mission, resources, and services to new members is particularly challenging. “We have a very mobile membership—just within the last just couple of years, we have between 8,000 and 10,000 brand-new members,” says Tracy. “If a member moves to our service area, they may not even know what an electric cooperative is, so it’s our job to educate them about what makes us different from a traditional investor-owned utility.”
