HEATHER LESMEISTER Executive Director, George A. Spiva Center for the Arts

222 W. 3rd Street Joplin, MO • 417.659.9205 www.spivaarts.org

C elebrating the creative experience is the latest role for Heather Lesmeister as the newly named director for Spiva Center for the Arts. She is eager to serve the community and the Spiva team during their exciting move to the new Harry M. Cornell Arts and Entertainment Complex this fall. Heather will implement her belief that a good team leader must first come together with their team to create an inspiring vision for the future. She’ll put the team first as she leads with transparency, passion and optimism as she learns what motivates them, helps them grow and then celebrate their successes. The leadership process Lesmeister uses springs from her core values: Never ask anyone to do what you wouldn’t do, find something positive in every challenge, discover new ideas through brainstorming and teamwork, and learn something from everyone you work with. She believes art is for everyone and is eager to hear ideas from the community about what they would like to see in Spiva when it comes to programs, exhibits, classes and collaborations. She and the team are looking forward to welcoming the public to this place of self-expression and creativity at the new home of George A. Spiva Center for the Arts during the Cornell Complex community open house Saturday afternoon, November 12.
