ALEX CLOSE-MAFFEI McDonald’s Owner/Operator Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States

McDonald’s has been the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) founding mission partner since 1974. That commitment to support families with sick children is ongoing. Alex, along with fellow area McDonald’s owners/operators pledge to donate one penny for every pound of fries they sell in their restaurants, which has raised nearly $81,000 since 2018 for local programs. McDonald’s also raises funds for local RMHC programs by selling Happy Meals, allowing customers to round up to the nearest whole dollar and encouraging them to donate their spare change in donation boxes in the drive-thru or at the front counter. Alex and her team take great pride in supporting and volunteering at the local Ronald McDonald House. “My parents spent 2 weeks in the Kansas City Ronald McDonald House shortly after I was born,” Alex said. “We know that nothing else matters when caring for a sick child, and we are committed to making families in the area know that we support them.”

A lex Close-Maffei is a wife, a mother and a second generation McDonald’s owner/operator in our Four-States Area. Her small-town roots remain part of her core. Her passion in serving her community is reflected in her giving back whenever she can to support educators, healthcare workers, law enforcement and especially Ronald McDonald House Charities. “In McDonald’s, a saying that rings true to me is that I have ketchup in my veins.” Her father, Phillip, became a McDonald’s owner/operator when Alex was just a little girl. She was able to earn herself an official job in the family business in 2006.
