Using Natural Elements to Decorate Your Home E verywhere we look in nature, we can see objects we can use to decorate our home. Wood, water, fire, stone and plants are all nature-inspired objects we can use for decorating our homes outside and inside.

The trend toward wood flooring is a perfect example. Wood flooring or even the look of wood flooring has become a must-have for homes. They come in many assorted colors, widths and types of wood. And for those who do not want the maintenance of wood flooring, ceramic and luxury vinyl plank flooring have been digitally printed to look like wood. The trend is going toward lighter colors and wider widths in the planks themselves. Laying a floor in a pattern such as a chevron or herringbone makes the floors much more interesting. It will be more expensive for the labor and will use more material; however, the look is so worth it!

The trend toward lighter-colored wood objects extends to furniture as well. The nod toward the Scandinavian look using lighter wood tones is very “in” right now and will also prove to be timeless moving forward. Consider using light-colored wood in your chairs, side tables and coffee tables. Wicker or cane furniture is also a great addition to a room and helps a room feel light and bright. Adding an element of water to your home can be as simple as adding a solar fountain to the front porch or back patio. For adding a water feature in your home, consider adding a large fish tank.
