M arilyn Monroe famously said, “Sisters make the best friends in the world.” Isn’t it the truth sisters have each other’s backs and stick together? Sisters know and love each other, and no matter what, they will always be there for each other. August 7 marks National Sisters Day celebrating all kinds of sisters: Those who are siblings, sorority sisters and friends who feel like sisters. It’s a day to show appreciation for those sister relationships of all kinds. To celebrate National Sister’s Day, ShowMe The Ozarks Magazine is featuring four sets of sisters who work together. Discover how working with your sister can make work and life a lot more fun!

Lee & Sue

L ee R adcliff -Timmsen , editor and publisher of Show Me The Ozarks Magazine, and her sister, Sue Dillmon , editorial director/account executive, have worked together for 20 years. Lee refle ted on working with her sister: “We are always supporting each other, giving moral support, motivating each other. Both of us are very structured and know we have good work ethics, just like our mom! The best thing about working with Sue is she knows me so well. She is a slave driver and keeps me on track!” Sue added, “We have a hard time turning off the work mode when we are together; we try hard to turn off the work. We have taken vacations together several times and have made many happy memories!” Being the younger sister, Sue said, “Lee is a sister you can always count on to be there when you need her for good times or hard times. Growing up, Lee would always do fun things with us, like taking us to the movies or the mall.” “I love her dearly,” said Lee. “When Mom was expecting her, I had a book about a doll named Sue. I asked my mom to name her Sue, and she did. I still call her SuzyQ!” “Lee knows I am always ready to do whatever she needs me to do,” commented Sue. “Lee is the hardest-working woman I have ever known. She has so much passion for what she has created, and I am so proud of what she has accomplished with Show Me The Ozarks Magazine ! She loves what she does, and it shows in every edition.”

S isters MichelleWolfe and Shelly Reding graduated from nursing school in 2006. “Growing up as twins, we were ALWAYS together. After college, we both got jobs at Freeman Health System,” said the sisters. For the past 16 years, Michelle has worked in a cardiac unit: firs on cardiology, the CV holding, the cath lab and currently as the STEMI coordinator. Shelly, on the other hand, mostly worked in maternal-child units starting in post-partum in 2004, then the birthing center and then NICU and pediatrics before her last adventure in the main OR. Working in diff erent areas, the sisters had opportunities to work together. “On the cardiac floo , I had a pregnant patient and had to ‘phone a friend’ for help. Turns out, I don’t know how to check for fetal heart tones,” said Michelle. “Shelly has needed to call for help when she had a pregnant patient that needed telemetry or an EKG and needed help.” The sisters agree, “It’s always nice to have someone to call and bounce a question or an idea off of or be able to vent after a long day to someone who understands the stress of your job. “We are close outside of work, too, and only live 5 miles apart. We go camping and do most vacations together. “We tell people all the time that we don’t know how people survive without a sister!”
