School and Community Summer 2023
service coordinator. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love being outside. Hiking, camping and fishing are all things I enjoy. I also love to read. What do you think is the most valuable benefit of being an MSTA member? Being part of a large community of people working to empower teachers. Which breed of cat or dog would you be? I would be a Labrador. Are there more doors or wheels in the world? I do not know, but both are fantastic! Doors open to new places and adventures, and wheels can take us where we want to go. Name: Kari Nolting Service area(s): I will be working with school districts in Jefferson City and surrounding areas, the Rolla, Salem, Waynesville area and everywhere in between. How do you hope to serve members? I have always seen myself as a servant leader and plan to enter this position with the same mentality. I wish to be supportive to all educators and support staff that I am working with and help them to make their careers better as they grow. What do you think is the most valuable benefit of being an MSTA member? One of the most valuable benefits I’ve found from being an MSTA member is the networking and sense of belonging I found by getting involved in MSTA events. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I enjoy time with my family right now. My boys are active, and I love going on side-by-side rides with them to go to baseball practices or games, play in the creeks or just ride to someone’s house for a BBQ. My boys and my husband are my world, so anything I can do with them is my preference. Which breed of cat or dog would you be? I would be a yellow lab, hands down. It has always been my favorite breed of dog. Labs are so loveable, fun and friendly. Are there more doors or wheels in the world? I am guessing wheels, but I am terrible at guessing at these things, ha!
spending time with my family. What do you think is the most valuable benefit of being an MSTA member? The most valuable benefit is the ability to call and ask questions. We are always here and happy to help. I tell my members to call with any question they may have. Even if I may not know the answer, I will contact those who do to find it. Which breed of cat or dog would you be? I am a dog person through and through but if I were going to choose one to be, I would be a big, fat, fluffy, lazy cat. I could lay around in the sun napping all day and wait for people to take care of me. Are there more doors or wheels in the world? There are definitely more doors. There are more things in the world that need doors than wheels. What is your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of the job is the interactions with members and school staff, particularly when that interaction is not due to an issue. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Most of my free time is spent with my wife and friends, visiting family, golfing and fishing. What do you think is the most valuable benefit of being an MSTA member? The most valuable part of being an MSTA member is the ability to get accurate information on a variety of topics related to education and employment. In one phone call, you can get a firm answer to employment questions, determine if you need representation and what type, how to answer personnel meeting questions and most of all... protect yourself. Our member support is second to none. Which breed of cat or dog would you be? I’m not a cat lover, so I’ve got to say I’d be a Labrador!
