“I spent about a decade in commercial construction, working on both the subcontractor and general contractor sides,” Leeor explains. “While I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot, I became increasingly passionate about residential work—drawn to working with clients on a more personal level and intrigued by the creative possibilities. I was considering joining a residential firm when my wife encouraged me to start my own business locally. What better area than Essex County, and what better timing than with three kids under five and a fourth on the way?!” Rachel leads 7 Layer Studio, a creative agency delivering design and strategy for ambitious brands. Empowered by a long line of entrepreneurs, she started as Zorel Design in 2004, leaving her agency job to set out on her own. “The early years were filled with bold leaps and ‘why nots’ — a mentality that’s foundational to our work even today,” she reflects.
