MEET THE ZOREL FAMILY

Photography by Jamie Meier

Meet Rachel and Leeor Zorel, high school sweethearts, local business owners, and parents of four, living in South Orange since 2011. Their children, Shaya (17), Ami (15), Matai (13), and Ozzie (11), are at the center of a life that balances Rachel’s design agency and Leeor’s construction company with the joys and challenges of parenting. With the kids attending Golda Och Academy and summers spent at Camp Ramah in Palmer, Massachusetts, the family is deeply rooted in both the South Orange community and their Jewish heritage. “There’s never a dull moment in our house, and every day is a bit different,” Rachel says. “Between soccer, softball, art classes, basketball, and running our businesses, there’s an organized chaos that keeps us moving in many directions. With four kids, two businesses, and family close by, we feel incredibly grateful to be living in such a special place and community.” Their story began in high school, when Rachel was a sophomore and Leeor was a senior. They married at 23 and 25, and when it came time to choose a last name, they wanted something original. “None of the conventional choices felt right,” Rachel explains. “So we blended our original names together and created Zorel.” Today, they run their businesses from the second floor of a historic building they recently purchased on Vose Avenue, with the intention of adding vibrancy to the heart of downtown South Orange. Leeor leads The Zorel Group, a residential construction company known across Essex County for building and remodeling homes with distinctive character and fine craftsmanship.
