COMMUNITY COALITION ON RACE TOWN HALL ON SOMA HOUSING AND DEVELOPMENT The Community Coalition on Race’s Residential Committee will host a town hall on housing and development impacts on September 14 at 7 p.m. This event aims to address the effects of master planning progress, development, zoning, affordable housing, and neighborhood issues in the South Orange/Maplewood community. The recently completed master plans in Maplewood and South Orange left residents questioning the changes as well as their impact on sustainability, diversity, and racial integration. The town hall will discuss fair share housing obligations, new approaches to development and zoning, along with efforts to make the towns affordable and diverse. Village President Sheena Collum and Maplewood Mayor Dean Dafis will present, followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A.
