INTERIOR DESIGN Happy November, decor lovers! And happy almost Thanksgiving. As usual, time sure does fly. Over the last few months, I’ve been discussing what I like to call the “4 P’s.” And this month, we’re on the fourth P. But before I reveal that, let’s recap the first three: pictures, paint, and pillows. Can you guess what the fourth is? It’s not pizazz, although it came close to making the cut. It’s...wait for it...plants. Yes, plants! Now, before you toss this magazine aside in frustration, thinking, “Seriously, Kate? Plants? In what universe do I have time to care for my family, job, pets, AND plants?” Well, I have the answer: the universe of fake plants. Today’s faux plants can be game-changers for interior decor. You can find incredibly realistic and reasonably priced floral arrangements practically anywhere. They look great, don’t break the bank, and require no care. My only suggestion is to dust them occasionally. Other than that, just place them and let them beautify your space. I know it sounds ridiculously easy, and that’s because it is. Plants, even faux ones, bring vitality, color, texture, and a connection to mother nature that infuses a calming energy into any room. If you have an empty spot in your home, whether it’s a shelf, coffee table, bookcase, or a corner, simply add a suitably sized plant, and voila! The space is instantly elevated. See what I mean?
