HOME DESIGN “So what color do you want to paint the outside of the house?” asked my wife. “Well since it’s a cottage style house, I was thinking we could go with white on white to give it a modern look. White body with white shutters and white trim.” My wife and I were discussing our latest whole house renovation project. The house we call Chloe. “That’ll look beautiful,” she said, “As long as we get the right white. You know how tricky whites can be.” “Do you remember how we found the house color for our very first renovation project?” I asked. She smiled, “Oh absolutely! We were driving in Florham Park and we saw a bank that was painted the perfect color yellow.” “Yes, I laughed. I still have the pictures of you with the paint fan deck trying to figure out the name of that paint.” “How about we check out that beautiful white on white house we see when we walk the dog?” she asked. “Great,
I love that shade of white. And that house has the same orientation, so it gets the same type of sunlight.” I replied. You know there’s nothing like seeing a whole building painted in a color you’re thinking of using. It’s a great way to really see a color in action! P.S. The owner of that white house was gracious enough to tell us what paint color he used. But first he informed us that they had gone through 11 color swatches on the house and used a color expert to find the right white! We only had to ask him to find our perfect color, lol….
