ATHLETE OF THE MONTH SPONSORED BY BASS FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC CAROLINE CARTER Caroline Carter, a 12-year-old swimmer attending Mor ristown Beard, has been training and competing for six years. Throughout the school year, Caroline com petes for Scarlet Elite and the Morristown Beard mid dle school team. She qualified for the New Jersey state championships three times, showcasing leading times in backstroke, distance freestyle, and butterfly. This year, she received the Scarlet Elite gold scholar-athlete award, recognizing her excellent grades and performance in swimming. During the summer, Caroline represents her favorite team, the Maplewood Makos, where she is a top scorer in her age group. On July 6th, 2023, she achieved a remarkable feat by setting the all-time Makos record for 11-12 girls in the 50-yard backstroke. When she isn’t swimming, Caroline enjoys participating in musical theater, spending time with friends, and mentoring younger swimmers on her team. Her favorite school subject is English, and she shares a close bond with her English teacher, Mrs. Jackie Forte. Mrs. Forte teaches Caroline the value of supportive guidance and maintaining high standards. Caroline’s determination and hard work make her an inspiration to everyone who knows her. Despite being born with a physical disability resulting in one leg being two inches shorter, she consistently challenges herself to reach her full potential, proving to other young athletes that anything is possible. Caroline’s aspires to swim in college and also become the head coach of the Makos, help ing young athletes discover the joys of swimming.
