REAL ESTATE A BIGGER, BETTER BAIRD
The South Orange community can now enjoy the newly renovated Baird Center, which has opened its doors after three years of work on a $15 million upgrade. The renovation features: - Art classrooms and dance studios on the first floor - A second-floor lounge and café with outdoor access to a wrap-around porch - A fitness and training gym - A multi-purpose meeting space, stage, screen room, and loft space - The Pierro Gallery on the first floor will showcase local and regional artists and artwork - A library room with library services - A large field house gymnasium for exercise and indoor sports - Administrative offices and conference rooms The new structure integrates the Baird’s original four fireplaces, timber beams, columns, and roof trusses. Upgrades such as a new roof, elevator, and HVAC system bring the old Baird up to code. The center offers a wide range of programs—over seventy in total—including Yoga, Pilates, Painting, Sewing, Ballet, Theatre, Basketball, and Soccer, catering to individuals of all ages. Children can enroll in STEM classes, seniors can participate in strength training, and families can engage in team sports. Visit the bigger, better, and beautifully renovated Baird Center to discover a valuable resource that enhances our SOMA community.
