SOMA Living March 2023

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, the Gallery at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel is excited to present “Femin-Art: Breaking Boundaries Across Generations of Women Artists.”

In this expansive new show, North Jersey women, ages 23 to 91, explore what it means to be an artist in these turbulent times. The exhibit features an eclectic range of alternative mediums, including oil and acrylic paintings, glass sculptures, photographs, ceramics, and drawings.

Femin-Art was curated by Lisa Suss and Felix Aarts, two of the founding members of TSTI’s Art Committee. Lisa and Felix are of different generations, but their shared passion for art makes them a great team, proving that age does not define one’s taste in art. As Aarts puts it, “It was important to me to have older artists as part of this show since they are often easily forgotten in the fast moving world where being hip and in tune with technology is so important.” Full list of exhibiting artists: Andrea Epstein, Anita Gladstone, Barbara Minch, Bonnie Maranz, Danielle Masters, Donna Ray Kessinger, Donna Moran, Doris Caçoilo, Hannah Kramer, Heidi Sussman, Jeanette Hershkowitz, Judy Targan, Sarah Petruziello, Susanna Baker, and Yvette Lucas. The Femin-Art opening reception is Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Temple Sharey Tefilo Israel, 432 Scotland Road, South Orange, NJ 07079. It is open to the public, but advance registration is required: https://bit.ly/femin-art-2023.
