MAPLEWOOD FOUNDATION THE MAPLEWOOD FOUNDATION LAUNCHES $1MILLION COMMUNITY FUND

The Maplewood Foundation is a philanthropic community foundation providing annual support to a broad range of nonprofit organizations serving Maplewood residents. In January, the board of trustees and early supporters donated

“A gift to The Maplewood Foundation represents a unique giving opportunity, as a donation today ensures a sustainable source of grant funding for years to come,” said Veda Truesdale, first vice president of the Foundation. “It’s an enduring way to give back to the community that gives us so much.” The Maplewood Foundation supports public education, scholarships, youth recreation, activities for individuals with special needs, racial equity and inclusion, climate change and the environment, senior services, emergency relief, and the arts. $600,000 toward the initial goal of $1 million for this campaign. The intent is to invest the assets and use 5% of the annual interest to fund grants for qualified (501)c3 organizations and emerging non-profits. “Every donation counts, and every dollar is an investment in the long-term health of our amazing community,” said former Maplewood Mayor Fred Profeta. (Who, with his wife, Susan conceived the foundation and seeded it with its first $500,000).
