PET LICENSES

Did you know that your dog needs an annual license from the Health Department? It is both a NJ State Law and a local ordinance that all domestic dogs seven months and older be registered. In addition to helping identify lost pets, licenses are an important tool for ensuring that rabies vaccines are up to date. This is helpful for both the pet owner and anyone who has an incident involving another dog. Licensing fees are also essential. Your money goes directly to support Animal Control. You are also helping fund testing of suspected rabid wildlife, as well as the NJ State rabies vaccination and low cost spay and neuter programs. Maplewood Township Dog License fees are $15 for a spayed or neutered dog, and $18 for a dog that is not spayed or neutered (This is substantially lower than the fines for having an unlicensed pet). Licenses must be renewed each year; if renewed after January 31st there is a $7.00 late fee. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required. By Maplewood Township ordinance, pet cats are also required to have a license. Scan theQR code next to this article to access theMaplewood pet license application page, or visit maplewoodnj.gov/pets.
