by Joe Mischka A few teamsters from eastern Washington, the Idaho panhandle and western Montana gather each Labor Day Weekend to harvest wheat as they did a hundred years ago. They use a push header, header wagons, the derrick table and stationary separator powered by a steam engine. The next threshing event will be held Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025. across the road from the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds in Colfax, Wash. To have wheat to harvest next August, it must be planted. So on the third weekend of April, those same teamsters gather to plow, harrow, fertilize and drill the wheat seed. Palouse Empire Planting
