DEAR PROSPECTIVE ROSEHILL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FAMILY
At Rosehill Christian School, we sincerely believe that our children deserve to be valued, welcomed and known. RCS offers a Christian, college preparatory education for students from Preschool to 12th-grade, providing opportunities for every child to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and physically. Our mission states the goal of RCS best: Rosehill Christian School provides excellence in Christ centered education as an extension of the Christian home. Every day at RCS, there are opportunities to grow and learn as children blossom into the adults
God designed them to be. With Christ at the center, we partner with parents to prepare children for the challenges of this world, so they fulfill their God-given purpose and reach their potential. If you would like your child to be a part of this exciting journey, we would be delighted to talk with you to see if Rosehill Christian School is the best fit for your children and family. We consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to minister to you and your family at Rosehill Christian School. Sincerely, Lauren Dyal Head of School
DEAR EAGLE FAMILY
Welcome to the first-ever edition of the Rosehill Christian School VYPE Media magazine. We are appreciative of VYPE and all they do for high school sports in Texas. This magazine highlights our students in Athletics and Fine Arts and their accomplishments over the past year. It’s a blessing to serve with some amazing administrators, teachers, coaches, students and parents who love the Lord and work together to make Rosehill Christian a very special and family-oriented place. We want to win and excel in athletics but only if done with class, character and humility, while honoring our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Billy Graham quote, “A coach will impact more people in one
year than the average person will in an entire lifetime” rings so true here at our school. We have incredible coaches who build strong relationships and faith and character into our student athletes each and every day. It’s our prayer that our athletes will excel inside and outside of the athletic arena and in their Christian walk in the years ahead. We appreciate and love our Eagle family and the great support we receive each and every year. Back-to-back Henderson Cup wins as the best 3A school in TAPPS is a testimony of the excellence of all who are a part of our school. Blessings and Go Eagles! Steve Krantz Director of Athletics

SINCE I STARTED HERE, THE THING THAT HAS CHANGED THE MOST HAS BEEN OUR PHYSICALITY. THESE GUYS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET AFTER IT MORE, AND THEY’VE BECOME JUST A TOUGHER TEAM. THEY STILL NEED DISCIPLINE, BUT HAVING A MINDSET OF BEING MORE PHYSICAL IS THE BIGGEST STEP WE HAVE TAKING THIS SEASON.

other team. Also, attention to detail and accountability will be vital.” Additionally, Smith serves as the Eagles’ strength and conditioning coach, which fits his style like a glove. For something as holistic as developing strength and speed in athletics, what’s his motivation? “I want to build good athletes, and it starts with “Establishing a basic level of strength and conditioning is important to every program. We can add on from there, to create powerful, strong, and durable athletes.” This, of course, feeds into what Smith hopes to instill within his student-athletes off the court and outside of the weight room. “Accountability is really a point of emphasis to what I hope to teach these kids,” Smith said. “I want us to raise the standards to one of excellence. On top of our p’s and q’s, we want to make sure our grades are good, and we have the mindset of being mentally tough for the future.” middle school to build a foundation,” he said.
LAST YEAR, ROSEHILL CHRISTIAN ADDED ANOTHER MEMBER TO THE RANKS OF ITS DEDICATED COACHING STAFF. Austyn Smith will wear two hats for the Eagles.... as the head basketball coach speed and conditioning coach over all sports. His story begins when Smith went to University of Louisville, where he played for the legendary Rick Pitino. From there, he gained experience in high school and AAU basketball arean before moving to Houston in 2019, where he would “meet the right people be led by God to Rosehill Christian”. After spending a year with the JV team, Smith brings plenty of experience to the table as he now enters his first year as Rosehill Christian’s head coach for the varsity basketball program. “I learned a lot under coach (Rick) Pitino for the three years I was at Louisville,” said Smith. “Being in shape is the key, which feeds into the strength and conditioning aspect. We want to handle the defensive end of the court, be very intense and play harder than the

THE ROSEHILL CHRISTIAN VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM WAS A FORCE IN TAPPS-3A A YEAR AGO. HAVING DOMINATED THEIR WAY TO AN UNDEFEATED DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP, WITH A SUBSEQUENT APPEARANCE IN THE STATE SEMIS, THE EAGLES WILL SEE TO THAT NOTHING CHANGES IN 2023. COACH MALLORY JACKS RETURNED FIRST TEAMERS KALEIGH FRAZIER, MERCY FREEMAN AND KEELY MCNEILL TO LEAD A LOADED SQUAD AS THE EAGLES MAKE A RUN TO A STATE TITLE.

OUR EXPECTATIONS ARE THE SAME EVERY YEAR. WE ARE GOING TO USE UPLIFTING WORDS WITH EACH OTHER AND KEEP OUR ACADEMICS UP. WE WANT TO GO UNDEFEATED IN DISTRICT AND AT HOME, THEN TAKE IT STEP-BY-STEP IN THE PLAYOFFS TO STATE. WE ARE A SENIOR-HEAVY TEAM THAT HAS PLAYED TOGETHER FOR A LONG TIME. THEY MESH REALLY WELL AND ARE GREAT LEADERS. WE HAVE A LOT OF STAR POWER IN THIS PROGRAM. MALLORY JACKS - ROSEHILL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

TO BE A CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER YOU NEED ENDURANCE. SPEED PLAYS A HUGE FACTOR, OF COURSE, BUT IT TAKES A LOT OF GUTS. IT’S A LONG RUN, SO YOU NEED TO HAVE A STRONG MINDSET TO ENDURE IT. THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR AS THE CROSS COUNTRY COACH, BUT WITH THE GUYS WE HAVE, WE’RE HOPING TO MAKE ANOTHER PUSH TO WIN THE DISTRICT.
