WHAT WE DO The Dream Center was opened in 2002 with the guidingmission to “impact families living in poverty, starting with children and youth.” From the beginning, they were able to identify critical needs within the community, and today, they fulfill their mission in the heart of downtown Peoria from a 150,000 square-foot campus. DCP is an expansive human-service organization offering a slate of community programs and ministries that provide relief to our community’s most underserved and vulnerable populations. Annually, they serve hundreds of individuals and families through their various services, which help their guests and students as they pursue long-term stability. DreamCenter Peoria’s model is based upon a four-pillar approach, which encompasses DCP Students, DCP Housing, DCP Cares, and DCP Mobile. DCP Students is their f lagship youth after-school program offering tutoring and vocational training within a safe and fun environment. Some of the Trades courses offered include motorcycle and small engine repair, electrical circuitry, screen printing, 3D printing, robotics, woodworking and coffee

roasting. DCP Housing consists of their housing ministry, including the emergency crisis shelter for singlewomen, womenwith children, and fathers with kids, and there are three floors of 21 supportive housing units. DCP Cares is their community outreach facet, which includes the Hope Store (a free-of-cost store for the public), Promise of Hope, Backpack Peoria, and Service the City, along with other valuable resources. The latest addition, DCP Mobile, is an innovative mobile service that provides laundry service, showers, haircuts, and meals in caravan-style to underserved neighborhoods. All four of these facets allowDCP to offer a wide array of services targeting generational poverty and conveying a sense of community by bringing individuals together across racial and income lines to offer hope. Every service and program offered by Dream Center Peoria must fit within their core values of “giving Dignity, showing Compassion, and igniting Purpose” to each individual they serve.
