recorded. North also had wres- tlers consistently place high all throughout the season. Ian Laatsch, Zach Fish- er, Terrell Middleton, and the aforementioned duo of Goymerac and Danielski were all consistent wrestlers during the grueling season. While Goymerac and Dan- ielski were the only state qualifiers, the hard work of Laatsch, Fisher, and Middle- ton should not go unnoticed. All of the aforementioned wrestlers made deep runs in the state tournament and con- tributed to the overall team success this year. “This year every- one had a different mindset. Everyone truly wanted to win. Everyone wanted to be the best.” “This year everyone had a different mindset. Everyone truly wanted to win. Everyone wanted to be the best, we are all super competitive,” said Danielski on why the team

was so successful this year. Goymerac had a similar idea to why the team was very suc- cessful, but added a different take on it too. “A lot of wres- tlers returned from last year, so we were able to build up a lot of experience. We were a lot more focused this year and knew exactly what our goals were which helped keep the intensity high every practice,” said Goymerac. It was truly another special season for the wrestlers. Al- though the team will lose a lot of seniors this year, there are

a lot of underclassmen that are ready and able to continue to make the North wrestling pro- gram one of the best. “We were a lot more focused this year and knew exactly what our goals were which helped keep the inten- sity high every prac- tice”

Another successful season for North wrestling is in the books. For the third time in the last four years, North will finish with a respectable 6-3 record. 1. How did you get involved with wrestling?

I started in 8th grade when Einstein’s wrestling coach, Mr. Giaimo, asked me to try out for the team. After the first couple of practices, I was really enjoying it, so I stuck with it. I was also on the Football and Track teams at North. Football is my favorite sport because of the team I had the privilege of playing with. I enjoyed the last two sum- mers at the Malacek wres- tling camp. It is very team oriented and there is a lot of free time, so it’s a lot of fun! I like to go out and com- pete against the guy across me. It’s a one-on-one physi- cal battle and I enjoy the challenge every day. I have to use my free time wisely. During homeroom or an off hour I am usually studying or doing homework rather than messing around or playing games.

when I was 5. We would play HORSE all the time and that sparked my inter- est in the game. At North I have played five sports: basketball, soccer, cross country, and track. My favorite sport by far is basketball. Winning state Junior year. I dreamt of that mo- ment since third grade! It forces you to have a short memory. The game moves so fast that you can’t dwell on your mis- takes otherwise you will never get into a rhythm. Using a calendar is crucial to balancing my time. I write down every homework assignment and activity I have to do each day. That way I know how much I have every night (or lack thereof).
